Satys acquires four Sabena technics painting facilities in Toulouse

Toulouse-based aerospace group Satys has finalised the takeover of four aircraft painting facilities from Sabena technics in Cornebarrieu, marking a significant step in its strategic refocus on aeronautics.

Completed on February 13, 2026, the transaction strengthens Satys’ industrial presence on the edge of the Toulouse-Blagnac runways and expands its aircraft painting capacity in one of Europe’s most important aerospace hubs.

The Cornebarrieu facilities handle approximately 140 aircraft per year and include the transfer of 130 employees to Satys Aerospace. The move consolidates Satys’ positioning in commercial aviation and deepens its long-standing relationship with Airbus.

Gregory Mayeur, chief executive of Satys Aerospace, said: “The expertise of the Satys teams in Blagnac, combined with that of Sabena technics in Cornebarrieu, will enable us to further strengthen our positioning and operational performance for our customer Airbus, with a total of 10 painting facilities in Toulouse, including four widebody hangars.”

With the addition of the Cornebarrieu sites, Satys now operates 10 painting facilities in Toulouse, including four widebody hangars, significantly increasing throughput capability for both single-aisle and long-haul programmes.

The takeover forms part of a broader strategic realignment led by founder and chairman Christophe Cador, which has seen the group divest non-core activities to concentrate on aircraft painting and surface treatment. Since 2020, Satys has exited its cabling, cabin interiors and rail interior design businesses to sharpen its focus on aeronautics.

The Sabena technics acquisition follows Satys’ purchase of SPI in 2022 and the opening of four new painting facilities in 2025–2026, including a widebody paint bay in Châteauroux.

Against a backdrop of renewed growth in global aerospace production, the Cornebarrieu expansion positions Satys to capture rising demand while reinforcing its operational footprint in Toulouse.
