UK flights to Middle East suspended as US launches attacks on Iran

Flights from the UK to key middle-east airports such as Doha, Dubai and Abu Dhabi have been suspended until further notice after the US launched attacks on Iran this morning prompting retaliations by Iran against many of the Gulf States.

Retaliatory strikes by Iran have so far seen missiles attacks on Israel, Bahrain, UAE, Qatar, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Syria. All countries were the US has a military prescence.

The UAE and Qatar in particular are key countries for UK passengers flying to Southern Hemisphere destinations such as Australia so the impact is likely to be significant with 18,000 passengers a day flying from the UK to UAE alone.

The US has said this is a large and ongoing military operation with further retaliation likely from Iran.

Passengers expecting to fly to the Middle East should contact their airlines for further updates.
