Earn and spend Avios on Hawaiian Airlines as it joins the oneworld alliance

Hawaiian Airlines has officially joined the oneworld airline alliance as of this Tuesday.

Alaska Airlines, already a oneworld member, acquired Hawaiian Airlines in late 2024.

All Hawaiian Airlines flights now carry AS flight numbers so, whilst technically the airline has its own operating licence, it is effectively a sub-brand of Alaska Airlines. Atmos Rewards was launched as a joint loyalty programme for the two carriers.

Hawaiian Airlines joins oneworld

It adds a handful of new destinations in the Pacific to the oneworld route map, including Hilo in Hawai‘i, Rarotonga in the Cook Islands, Pago Pago in American Samoa and Papeete in Tahiti.

Hawaiian Airlines operates 230 daily flights to, from and within the Hawaiian Islands and carried more than 11 million passengers in 2025.

The airline serves every major Hawaiian island directly and operates an average of 140 daily inter-island flights.

Using Avios on Hawaiian Airlines

As a oneworld member, you can now earn and spend Avios across Hawaiian Airlines flights.

This isn’t new, however. Since October 2025, you have been able to book Avios seats on Hawaiian Airlines on ba.com under the Alaska branding. They were marked as ‘Alaska As Hawaiian Airlines On Behalf Of Alaska Airlines’. They should, going forward, show directly as Hawaiian Airlines.

For most other oneworld frequent flyer programmes, being able to spend miles on Hawaiian Airlines flights is new.

Don’t get your hopes up about finding huge amounts of Hawaii availability for Avios. The islands are a key vacation target for many Americans and you will be fighting many tens of millions of American Airlines frequent flyers, as well as Atmos Rewards members, for those seats.

The long-running partnership between Virgin Atlantic and Hawaiian Airlines ended on 30th June 2025 and you can no longer earn or spend Virgin Points on its flights.

Parent Alaska Airlines is heading to London

There will be another major Alaska / Hawaiian development in May, when Alaska Airlines launches daily flights between its Seattle hub and London Heathrow.

This uses a Boeing 787 which used to belong to Hawaiian and a pair of Heathrow slots which are borrowed from American Airlines. We are hoping to be on the inaugural flight.
