KM Malta Airlines and Bird Aviation announce A320neo MRO deal

MRO provider Bird Aviation has signed a three-year heavy maintenance agreement with KM Malta Airlines.

Under the agreement, Bird Aviation will support the national airline of Malta’s fleet with a range of base maintenance activities, including C-checks and other scheduled works, carried out at its facilities in Larnaca, Cyprus.

The deal builds on an existing cooperation between the two companies, reinforcing their shared focus on operational continuity and consistent maintenance standards.

Frederic Pralus, chief executive of Bird Aviation, said: “This agreement reflects the trust that has been built through our cooperation with KM Malta Airlines. In a period where predictability and close coordination matter more than ever, having partners you can rely on makes a real difference.

“Our team remains focused on delivering the level of support and consistency that operators expect from us.”

David Curmi, executive chairman at KM Malta Airlines, said: “Securing dependable maintenance support is an important part of maintaining operational stability. Our collaboration with Bird Aviation has shown the value of working with a partner that understands both the technical and operational aspects of our requirements. This agreement allows us to plan ahead with confidence.”

KM Malta Airlines commenced operations in March 2024 with a modern fleet of eight Airbus A320neo aircraft, connecting the Maltese Islands with key destinations across Europe and the Mediterranean.
