Dornier Technology boosts Asian MRO capacity at Clark

Philippine MRO company Dornier Technology is significantly expanding its MRO operations at Clark International Airport with the addition of a second hangar and plans for a third facility by the end of Q3 2026.

The expansion comes as airlines across Asia continue to face mounting pressure securing MRO capacity, with fleet growth outpacing available maintenance infrastructure throughout the region.

Dornier Technology currently operates Hangar 1, a 4,705 sqm facility capable of accommodating either one narrowbody aircraft or two turboprop aircraft simultaneously.

Its newly operational Hangar 2 spans 4,401 sqm and can accommodate up to four turboprop aircraft at the same time.

A third 4,705 sqm hangar, designed to handle two narrowbody aircraft simultaneously, is scheduled to open by the end of Q3 2026.

The company also has access to a fourth 2,250 sqm hangar capable of supporting two turboprop aircraft.

According to Dornier Technology, expanding from one to three hangars represents a 194% increase in capacity, rising to 241% if the fourth hangar is fully utilised.

A major addition within the expansion programme is full aircraft painting capability for narrowbody and ATR aircraft, enabling the company to provide combined heavy maintenance and repaint services from a single location.

Nick Gitsis, chief executive of Dornier Technology, said aircraft lessors repositioning aircraft between operators often struggle to secure MRO providers capable of performing both heavy airframe checks and full repaint work.

“With this capability, Dornier Technology is well-placed to offer a comprehensive one-stop maintenance and painting package,” he said.

Gitsis added that the company’s expansion plans were driven by strong regional demand for heavy maintenance services.

“We see opportunity particularly among low-cost carriers in Southeast Asia as well as from airlines in Northeast Asia, where labour shortages are most acute,” he said.
