The Northrop Grumman AN/APG-83 Scalable Agile Beam Radar going into 608 United States Air Force Lockheed Martin F-16 Block 40 and 50 aircraft shares 95% software commonality and 70% hardware commonality with the AN/APG-81 that flies on every Lockheed Martin F-35. That is the figure Lockheed Martin itself publishes for the SABR program, and it means a Cold War-era airframe first flown in 1976 is now carrying a nearly identical detection and tracking software stack as America’s newest stealth fighter.
