How Many Crew Members Does It Take To Fly A C-5 Galaxy?
The Lockheed C-5M Super Galaxy can take off weighing 840,000 lb (381,024 kg), yet the United States Air Force’s standard crew consists of just seven people. In January 2020, however, one aircraft left Dover Air Force Base (DOV) with twelve crew members and spent fifteen days away. The difference is more than a matter of numbers: it raises a question about what it takes to operate one of the world’s largest military transport aircraft.
