Bits: World Cup seats from Marriott, extra Malaysia Airlines flights, new Verona lounge
News in brief:
Get World Cup tickets from Marriott Bonvoy this week
Marriott Bonvoy has got its hands on some World Cup tickets, and is making them available this week via a mix of auctions and ‘Buy It Now’ deals.
The three England group games are being auctioned. There are four sets of tickets available for Croatia, Ghana and Panama.
For the Scotland games, which went up yesterday, two games were ‘Buy It Now’ (sold out) and one – Scotland v Morocco – is an auction which ends tomorrow.
I suspect that the games which are not yet open will all be ‘Buy It Now’ as they feature the less fancied nations in the tournament. If you’re keen to see a World Cup game irrespective of who is playing, this is as good a chance as any. Prices are as low as 75,000 points per pair.
You MUST hold a Visa payment card to redeem because the tickets appear to be from the Visa allocation.
You can see the options on the Marriott Bonvoy Moments site here.

Extra Malaysia Airlines flights from Heathrow
Malaysia Airlines has added two additional flights from London to help passengers who may have been caught out due to cancellations by Middle East carriers.
The additional services are:
- Saturday 18th April – MH7005, departs Heathrow 13.10, arrives KL 09.25 +1
- Wednesday 22nd April – MH7005, departs Heathrow 09.30, arrives KL 05.45 +1
Whilst aimed at airlines who are rebooking passengers, you can book these additional flights for cash via the Malaysia Airlines website.
Remember that Malaysia Airlines is a member of the oneworld alliance so you can earn Avios on these flights.
New lounge opens at Verona
Aspire has announced the opening of the Catullo Lounge at Verona airport.
British Airways will hopefully use this for its Gatwick services, although you can also enter with a Priority Pass or similar lounge club card, or for cash (€42).
To quote:
Featuring soft lighting, panoramic runway views, and 95 comfortable seats, the lounge provides a relaxed atmosphere designed for comfort, privacy and productivity before departure.
Open daily from 06:00-21:00, guests can enjoy complimentary food and beverages throughout the day, with a curated offer highlighting local Veneto cuisine and wines, alongside Italian classics and vegetarian options, and a dedicated barista offering high-quality coffee and tea. Additional amenities include showers, quiet zones, workspaces, and high-speed Wi-Fi.
