British Airways blocking India Avios redemptions from 45 days before departure

British Airways has, quietly, imposed a 45 day booking deadline for Avios tickets to India.

This is not something that British Airways usually does (unlike Aer Lingus which has varying restrictions) and given the increased number of flights to India in recent months it seems an odd set of routes to block.

It seems to apply to all booking classes.

It’s not clear why this is happening, but it is definitely a thing.

It is a rolling 45-day block which seems to have been in place for a few days. If you repeat these searches today (the screenshots above were generated on Sunday) you should see that the first available date has moved forward.
