Get £75 cashback with a new IHG and American Express hotel promotion (inc US and Canada)
IHG has launched a new hotel cashback deal with American Express.
If you are targetted, you will see this deal under the ‘Offers’ tab for one or more of your Amex cards on the statement page. You need to opt-in.
80,000 registrations will be accepted which is high for this type of deal.
Here is the offer:
- receive £75 back when you spend £300 (cumulative)
- spend must be made by 27th July
- only valid on checkout spend, not prepaid bookings
- only valid at selected European, US and Canadian hotels
As usual, whilst this is forbidden by the rules, it is likely that a prepaid booking WILL count towards the cashback.
However, it is important to know that – across all chains – some hotels are now emailing online payment links to guests with prepaid bookings. This saves the hotel money on card processing fees. You will NOT receive cashback if you use an online payment link as your money will be taken by Stripe or a similar low-cost payment processor.

Every time we run this offer I joke about the different way that Amex has found to sort the list of hotels. This time, I give up. As far as I can tell, it is totally random by country. It’s not by hotel name, not by city, not by post code. If you can work it out, let us know! Note that the Canadian and US hotels are at the end of the list.
Participating brands include Garner, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo, voco, Staybridge Suites, InterContinental, Regent, Vignette and Kimpton.
Annoyingly there is no ‘open to all’ IHG promotion at the moment to run alongside this although you may have received a targetted offer. There is, of course, plenty of time for a new offer to launch before the cashback offer ends on 27th July.
