Where will British Airways fly from Stansted, Edinburgh and Glasgow this summer?

Whilst British Airways has largely ceded the market for regional UK services to Europe to its low cost rivals, a quirk in its operations means that it offers a handful of services from Stansted, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

These flights are operated at BA Cityflyer, which is usually based at London City Airport. However, the airport is closed from midday on Saturday to midday on Sunday to give local residents some respite. BA must find other places to fly to during the weekends or leave its aircraft grounded – an expensive luxury.

For the past few years, BA has offered flights to select European cities from a range of regional airports. It has tried – and failed – at many airports and for summer 2026 the only English option is London Stansted – a pretty conservative choice! Glasgow and Edinburgh will also see flights.

Where will British Airways fly from Stansted?

BA will offer six routes from London Stansted for summer 2026:

• Bergerac
• Florence
• Ibiza
• Nice
• Olbia
• Split

The flight times are below. Some of these routings look odd because aircraft often operate in ‘W’ rotations, eg ‘London City to XXXX, XXXX to Stansted, Stansted to YYYY, YYYY to London CIty’ over a weekend.

Bergerac

One flight per week in July and August:

• On Saturdays, BA8743 departs Stansted at 1:25pm and arrives in Bergerac at 4:05pm
• On Saturdays, BA8744 departs Bergerac at 4:45pm and arrives at Stansted at 5:20pm

Florence

One flight per week from April to October:

• On Sundays, BA7017 departs Stansted at 7:45am and arrives in Florence at 10:55am
• On Saturdays, BA7016 departs Florence at 4:15pm and arrives in Stansted at 5:30pm

Ibiza

One flight a week from June to September:

• On Sundays, BA7309 departs Stansted at 2:15pm and arrives in Ibiza at 5:50pm
• On Saturdays, BA7308 departs Ibiza at 11:50am and arrives in Stansted at 1:30pm

Nice

Once a week from May to September:

• On Sundays, BA2333 departs Stansted at 7:45am and arrives in Nice at 10:55am
• On Saturdays, BA2332 departs Nice at 10:55am and arrives in Stansted at 12:10pm

Olbia

Once a week from May to September:

• On Saturdays, BA2331 departs Stansted at 2:15pm and arrives in Olbia at 5:45pm
• On Sundays, BA2331 departs Stansted at 8:20am and arrives in Olbia at 12:00pm
• On Saturdays, BA2330 departs Olbia at 11:55am and arrives in Stansted at 1:40pm
• On Saturdays, BA2336 departs Olbia at 6:35pm and arrives in Stansted at 8:20pm

Split

Once a week in May, June and September:

• On Saturdays, BA7342 departs Stansted at 12:55pm and arrives in Split at 4:25pm
• On Saturdays, BA7343 departs Split at 5:10pm and arrives in Stansted at 6:50pm

Note that the Escape lounge at London Stansted is now closed due to redevelopment work at the terminal. I suspect BA flights will use the basic ‘Essence by Escape’ lounge.

Where will British Airways fly from Edinburgh?

BA will offer three European routes from Edinburgh for summer 2026, on top of the regular Heathrow services:

• Florence
• Palma
• San Sebastian

Flight times are as following:

Florence

One flight per week from May to October:

• On Saturdays, BA2345 departs Edinburgh at 2:55pm and arrives in Florence at 6:50pm
• On Saturdays, BA2344 departs Florence at 7:30pm and arrives in Edinburgh at 9:25pm

Palma

Two flights per week from May to September and one flight per week in October:

• On Saturdays, BA2337 departs Edinburgh at 6:50am and arrives in Palma at 11am
• On Sundays, BA9207 departs Edinburgh at 8am and arrives in Palma at 12:05pm
• On Saturdays, BA2338 departs Florence at 11:45am and arrives in Edinburgh at 1:55pm
• On Saturdays, BA2906 departs Florence at 1:15pm and arrives in Edinburgh at 3:25pm

San Sebastian

Two flights per week in June:

• On Tuesdays, BA2919 departs Edinburgh at 1:30pm and arrives in San Sebastian at 4:55pm
• On Saturdays, BA2919 departs Edinburgh at 2:10pm and arrives in San Sebastian at 5:35pm
• On Tuesdays, BA2920 departs San Sebastian at 5:40pm and arrives in Edinburgh at 7:10pm
• On Saturdays, BA2920 departs San Sebastian at 6:20pm and arrives in Edinburgh at 7:50pm

Where will British Airways fly from Glasgow?

BA will offer two European routes from Glasgow for summer 2026, on top of the regular Heathrow services:

• Palma
• San Sebastian

Flight times are as follows:

Palma

Once a week, from May to October:

• On Saturdays, BA2341 departs Glasgow at 2:15pm and arrives in Palma at 6:25pm
• On Saturdays, BA2340 departs Palma at 7:15pm and arrives in Glasgow at 9:25pm

San Sebastian

Once a week, from July to September:

• On Saturdays, BA2343 departs Glasgow at 7:35am and arrives in San Sebastian at 11am
• On Saturdays, BA2342 departs San Sebastian at 11:45am and arrives in Glasgow at 1:15pm

The BA Cityflyer experience

Flights will be on Embraer 190 aircraft. These have 2×2 seating in both Club Europe and Euro Traveller.

Following the ‘densification’ process in 2024 which added two rows of seats, leg room is now very tight behind the exit rows and you should aim to sit as far forward as possible.

Club Europe passengers receive the same service as they would on a mainline flight, albeit from a different catering company to Heathrow flights.
